The Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Podgorica can be called unique. It is not for nothing that tourists are recommended to visit it. Those are the most interesting facts that can be seen in the Cathedral of the Resurrection in Podgorica:

 

  • - It is one of the biggest churches in Europe, in the Balkans and the biggest in Montenegro.
  • - It is 41.5 metres high, with 7 gilded crosses and 17 bells.
  • - The largest fresco over the entrance to the temple is 53.5 m2.
  • - It has the capacity to receive over 5000 pilgrims at a time.
  • - The style of the temple is called Neo-Byzantine and it combines several architectural findings at once.
  • - The stones used to build the walls of the cathedral were rough-hewed on the spot and deliberately decorated to look like the old times.
  • - One of the bells of the temple weighs about 11 tons, all the bells were cast in Voronezh.
  • - The chandelier in the temple weighs more than 1200 kg.
  • - The interior decoration is made of numerous colorful pieces of marble and granite, as well as a unique marble mosaic painting "Noah's Ark".
  • - Several of the bells on the church belfry are the work of craftsmen from Voronezh, Russia.

The walls are richly decorated with frescoes, which adds to the uniqueness, as there are no other such huge cathedrals with such contemporary paintings in the Christian world. This temple is a real jewel of Podgorica and the whole country.
